SUMMARY:1st International Cellular Agriculture conference
DESCRIPTION:This on-site event gathers top experts and actors in the field of cellular agriculture for food production to share the latest research results\, news from the industry and to network for new partnerships and ideation. The aim is also to share information to decision-makers and stakeholders especially in EU. \nThe 1st International Cellular Agriculture conference covers all fields of cellular agriculture: microbial and algal biomass\, cultivated meat and plant cell cultures\, precision fermentation to produce proteins\, lipids and other food ingredients\, and related fields covering sustainability and regulatory aspects too. As often the events in this field are focusing on only one sub-topic of cellular agriculture\, in this event we bring all the sub-categories to joint discussion to generate new ideas and partnerships and to facilitate R&D&I. \nIn addition\, you will have an exceptional site visit opportunity to Solar Foods Factory 01 where food ingredients are produced from CO2. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration \n\nRegister for the conference here.\nEarly bird registration Deadline 28.2.2023 \n\nCall for Abstracts\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCall for abstracts is open! LINK\nDeadline for abstract submission is 28.2.2023 \nTopics for the abstract submission: \n\nPrecision fermentation (proteins\, lipids etc.)\nMicrobial and algae biomass (SCP\, mycoprotein\, etc.)\nCultivated meat\nPlant cell cultures\nSustainability aspects (environmental\, economic\, social aspects\, etc.)\nSafety and regulatory issues\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHighlights of the programme\n\n\nDay 1\, June 14th\, concentrates on business development and policy viewpoints\, delivered by industry representatives and decision makers. The morning holds the unique opportunity to visit the new Solar Foods Factory 01 as well as networking with the latest start-ups\, actors and stakeholders in the field. \nDay 2\, June 15th\, gives an overview of research and development in the field of cellular agriculture\, with four thematic sessions: precision fermentation\, microbial and algal biomass\, cultivated meat and plant cells\, as well as sustainability and safety aspects. \nKeynote speakers include:\n– Tim Geistlinger\, Perfect Day\, opening keynote of the event with presentation titled “Scaling the Impact of Precision Fermentation for a Resilient Future Food System and Beyond”\n– Mark Post\, Mosa Meat\, keynote of the session “Cultivated meat and plant cells as future foods” with presentation titled “Where is the cultured meat?”\n– Ilan Samish\, Amai Proteins\, keynote of the session “Precision fermentation for production of food ingredients” with presentation titled “Large-scale tasty proteins by microbial precision fermentation: from sweet to sewage aspects”\n– Hanna Tuomisto\, University of Helsinki\, keynote of the session “Sustainability aspects of the new processes and value chains” with presentation titled “Environmental\, social and economic impacts of cellular agriculture” \nMore details here: Programme

SUMMARY:EFSA’s Scientific Colloquium 27 “Cell culture-derived foods and food ingredients”
DESCRIPTION:Recent advances in fields such as tissue engineering\, cell culture and synthetic biology have paved the way for new technological approaches and products in the agri-food sector. Among these\, cell culture-derived foods of animal or plant origin and food ingredients produced through precision fermentation stand out. \nIn the EU system\, these kinds of products require pre-market authorisation under different sectoral regulatory frameworks involving EFSA’s scientific advice\, such as the novel food and the food additives regulations. Therefore\, it is essential that EFSA’s risk assessment methodologies and expertise in the field keep abreast of these technological developments. \nWith this Scientific Colloquium\, EFSA would like to bring together relevant experts and stakeholders to discuss ongoing trends and research on the topic\, and the requirements for keeping EFSA’s risk assessment fit-for-purpose. \nValeria Teloni\, member of Cellular Agriculture Europe\, will be part of the session ‘Developments in cell culture-derived foods and food ingredients’ on Thursday 11th May\, 10:30-11:10AM CEST. \nFor more information on the Colloquium\, its agenda and webstream\, please visit: here.

SUMMARY:The Future of Food Conference 2022
DESCRIPTION:Cellular Agriculture Europe is proud to support the ‘Future of Food Conference’\, organised by EIT Food on Thursday\, 16th June 2022\, in Brussels. The Conference will be a great opportunity to discuss future trends and priorities in European food innovation\, in the broader context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the EU Farm to Fork Strategy. \nCellular Agriculture Europe’s Vice-President\, Hélène Miller (Aleph Farms)\, will be speaking at the workshop ‘Accelerating Innovative solution: The transition towards protein diversification‘ (14:00-16:45 CEST). \nThere is a growing recognition that combining novel and traditional protein sources is key to ensuring food security and addressing climate change and sustainability concerns. According to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report\, emerging food technologies such as plant-based (algae and insect) alternatives to animal-based food products\, precision fermentation and cultured meat\, can bring substantial reduction in direct GHG emissions from food production that weigh up to 30% of global emissions. \nFor more information on the conference\, its agenda and registration\, please visit: https://eitfutureoffood.eu/
